Q: Welcome, Jennifer!! Why did you join the Tichenor Board of Directors (BOD)?
A: Being asked to apply to join the Tichenor Board of Directors was a true honor for me, as Tichenor holds a very special place in my heart. I was a beneficiary of Tichenor when I was an infant, and it was there that I learned how to swim, and received water therapy for my Arthrogryposis.
Q: What is helping you through this difficult time of the pandemic?
A: I think there is a level of comfort knowing that I am not going through this pandemic alone. I make sure to talk to my friends and family via Facetime as much as I can, and to make time to get out into the sunshine for some vitamin D.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish as part of the BOD?
A: Tichenor is such a hidden gem in Long Beach, and I really hope to connect more with our local community to teach them why Tichenor is so valuable to the children and families that we serve, and the richness of our history.
Q: What other work/organizations are you involved in outside of Tichenor?
A: I’m a Delegate representing Assembly District 70 in our state’s Democratic Party, Secretary of the Democratic Women’s Study Club, a Commissioner on the Citizens’ Advisory Commission on Disabilities, Vice President of the Willmore Heritage Association and Chair of the Ms. Wheelchair America Bylaws Committee. As to my line of work, I’m the Client Services Manager at PSC Campaigns.
Q: Any other personal tidibits you’d like to share?
A: In my previous career, I was and still am, the first person in a wheelchair to perform on any Disney stage in the world in ‘Aladdin a Musical Spectacular’ where I performed 4 shows a day for 13 years. My hobbies include traveling and crime documentaries. I’m the oldest of 6 in my family, whom I love spending time with.
Thank you, Jennifer! We’re so delighted to have you join the Tichenor Clinic Board of Directors!
