Dear Friends,
This year we celebrate our 95th anniversary since the opening of Tichenor Clinic for Children and it also marks 32 years at the clinic for me. This fall, after 27 years as Executive Director, I will be retiring. I am incredibly proud of how our organization has intentionally and steadily grown and while it will be difficult for me to not be part of our daily work, I am so thrilled to open the door to new leadership for Tichenor Clinic’s next era.
The staff and board have been working together with me to ensure a smooth transition planned for October 2021. We finalized a strategic plan that includes strengthening of infrastructure and fundraising capacity, leadership development, and overall clinic operations and systems. We are confident that our plans and collective commitment to our values and mission will help usher in positive change.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the outstanding boards of directors, clinicians, and administrative staff. It is their teamwork and partnership that have enabled me to have as long a tenure as I have had at the clinic. I am also so thankful for our donors, community partners, elected officials – your support directly impacts the lives of children & families in our community who would otherwise not have access to care.
Your generous support of me and of Tichenor Clinic for Children has helped make us the wonderful organization we are today. I hope that you will continue to support our work to provide access to quality therapy and parent support to families. With your partnership, we will enter this new era with solidarity and strength!
With love and appreciation,
Lori DeLaney
Executive Director

Dear Friends,
We are writing to announce the retirement of our Executive Director Lori DeLaney who has led Tichenor Clinic for Children with dedication and compassion for 27 years. We are so appreciative to Lori for her leadership which has ensured Tichenor Clinic has remained a highly-regarded and valued organization answering a critical need in the community. We wish Lori heartfelt congratulations on her future, which will be filled with hiking, kayaking, and spending quality time with family.
Tichenor Clinic for Children has faithfully served children with disabilities and their families for 95 years. Under Lori’s leadership during the last three decades, Tichenor Clinic:
• helped bring the first pediatric orthopedists to Long Beach in collaboration with Miller Children’s Hospital
• collaborated with Miller Children’s Hospital and Orthopedic Hospital to form the Pediatric Orthopedic Specialty Center (POSC) at Miller Children’s Hospital. With Tichenor’s support, POSC is able to offer services for children who are unable to otherwise obtain services
• has grown from three therapists to a creative and compassionate staff of 27
• has increased emphasis on support and advocacy for families, committing to increasing equity and access for future generations
Please join us in celebrating Lori’s remarkable legacy and Tichenor Clinic’s 95 years of service to the community through our campaign, “Building on the Past; Stepping into the Future.”
Thank you for your generous support of Tichenor Clinic for Children!
Warm regards,
Lisa Carrick, President, Board of Directors
