Parent Support Services

Parenting a child with a disability can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our educational Parent Support Services are a safe, welcoming space for parents and caregivers to learn, share, and grow together in both English and Spanish.

We have a variety of outstanding speakers, including psychologist, and psycho-educational consultant, Mariana Leñero Solar, who teaches a series on how different disabilities affect the child’s brain called Siento, Pienso and Actuo (I Feel, I Think and I Act).

On an alternative schedule with Mariana Leñero Solar we host a workshop on navigating the systems of care. Lead by Mayra Jiménez, our Director of Administration & Family Services, and collaborating with other organizations we discuss topics like navigating special education, regional center, mental health and related services!

We are also proud to host the Learning Rights Law Center’s TIGER (Training Individuals for Grassroots Education Reform) Program, which teaches parents about the special education system and how to become the best advocate for their child’s rights and needs.

We offer two focused workshops via zoom:

  • One to better understand your child’s disability and how it impacts learning and development.
  • One to help you navigate the different systems of care, services, and supports available to your family.

Come connect, ask questions, and feel empowered with tools that make a difference.
